The Island Run 1

Kent Sports Trust is delighted to be supporting the 2019 edition of The Island Run on Sunday 5th May.

For those not in the know, The Island Run is a long-established event on The Isle of Sheppey. The run was re-branded from 2006 to 2016 as the ‘Paul Trigwell Island Run’ in memory of Paul Trigwell.

Paul was the head teacher of St George’s Middle School in Minster and a teacher of Isle of Sheppey children for 30 years. Paul was instrumental in the organisation of the run until he sadly passed away in September 2006.

The Island Run will be over three distances: a 2-mile fun run and an electronic timed 5 & 10km run.

Entry fee:

2mile Fun Run Entries (open to all ages & fancy dress is encouraged :)) All runners will receive a standard medal
Advanced entries: £2 + £5 sponsorship
On-the-day (subject to space): £5 + £5 sponsorship

10k Entries All runners will receive a bespoke medal, T-shirt, Goody bag and electronic chip timing
Advanced entries: £16 affiliated club members, £18 unaffiliated
On-the-day (subject to space): £20

5k Entries: All runners will receive a bespoke medal, T-shirt, Goody bag and electronic chip timing
Advanced entries: £12 affiliated club members, £14 unaffiliated

Under UK Athletics rules the minimum age for the 10km race is 15 years on the day and 11 years for the 5km race.

There are prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd male and female,1st male and female VET40, 50 and 60 and a team prize (three to score).

As this is a charity fund raising event we would ask entrants to consider downloading the additional sponsorship form to support the Rotary charity (Number 1119547) so that they may support other needy charitable causes. They are also encouraging entrants to raise funds for their own nominated charities.  All entrants who raise sponsor money will be entered into a prize draw, with an additional prize for the entrant who raises the most sponsor money for Rotary’s charity  http://www.ptir.org.uk/downloads.html

Certificates will be issued to the individuals who raise the most sponsorship money and a prize will be awarded to best fancy dress.
